ARTICLE: BUNTE: Tokio Hotel - Album Coming This Year (22.01.2014)

After a four year break, there will be a new album by "Tokio Hotel". The former teen band wants to surprise, not only with a new album, but to also give live performances from Bill Kaulitz and Co. in 2014.

The recent album of "Tokio Hotel" was released in 2009. While twin brothers, Bill and Tom Kaulitz (both 24) even sat in the past year as jurors in the tenth season of "Deutschland Such Den Superstar", but it seems to have become quite calm for their band. 2014, this should now change: "Tokio Hotel" have a new album planned.

In an interview with "Bunte", producer Peter Hoffman (60) revealed about the plans by vocalist Bill Kaulitz and his band comrades: "The band is fine. The album will come out this year, and then there will certainly be live concerts." The new "Tokio Hotel" album has even been recorded. "Now, it's all about the follow-up and a matter of selecting the right songs," said the Producer.

However, the new album does not just mean including successful songs, the release date would also be well chosen. The record label, Universal has reached agreement "about the songs 'completely agree'", now it is to discuss at which time the new work of "Tokio Hotel" should be best on the market.

Producer Thomas Anders (50) also expressed his views on the "Tokio Hotel" comeback. He believes that Bill Kaulitz, Tom Kaulitz and their fellow musicians are now faced with a challenge. "For a teen band, four years break is an eternity", said the former "Modern Talking" musician, "The former audience of Tokio Hotel is now older. You now have to break into the adult Pop market.

Bill, why have you still not found "the one"?

He's been lonely for so long! The Tokio Hotel-Singer talks to BRAVO about his trouble with finding "the one".

This year's DSDS season is full of hot flirts and big feelings! Ex-candidate Sarah Joelle Jahnel (23) claims that the contestants are having sex with each other. And with Lisa Wohlgemuth (21) and Erwin Kintop (17) there's also a young couple in love thrown into the mix. Well, love can be really beautiful: As long as you find someone who’ll always be there for you, understands you and takes you as you are. That’s the best feeling in the world! But what if this person just doesn’t step into your life? You wait and wait but it just doesn’t happen!

That’s also the case for DSDS-Juror Bill Kaulitz. The, now, 23-year old has been single for 8 years! That's an eternity! No cuddling, no kissing, no butterflies in the stomach for such a long time. That's so sad! Before the big breakthrough with Tokio Hotel in the summer of 2005, he had 5 girlfriends. After that: nothing - and that despite girls around the world adoring him.

The rocker is speaking openly about this topic: "Of course I want that to happen to me too. Every person is made for being with someone." But why doesn't it work for you, Bill? "I ask that myself too", he laughs and shrugs his shoulders, trying to find answers to this question. "I have a hard time trusting people. This might be one of the problems."

Which is understandable since Bill has been in the spotlight since he turned 15. "Who really likes me for the person I am and who only likes me because I'm famous?" are questions that arise every time when the singer and juror gets to know new people. "Besides I also might have high expectations when it comes to love. A lot of people are only in relationships because they can't be alone. I don't want this. Either they want to be in one or not! When I'm in love, then I'm completely in love - forever and always. I don't want to come to an arrangement with this person, it just has to fit." Finding "the one" - that certainly puts a nice mental image in your head. And it's so very romantic. But sometimes you also have to give those people a chance, that don't seem perfect to you at first glance. Because often feelings, like trust, develop over time.

That's also what Bill's twin brother, Tom, tries to get into his brothers head. "It's really not easy for Bill to get to know women when I'm around. They then only have eyes for me.", he starts out joking, but gets serious afterwards: "All joking aside, I really want to help Bill. I always tell him his expectations in love are too high." Unlike Bill, Tom never had problems with getting close to girls. Quite the opposite: When the boys from Loitsche started out Tom bragged about his "adventures" with groupies that he took into his hotel room - he definitely didn't keep quiet about them.

But the wild times are over - the 23-year-old is happy with ONE girl: Since 2011 it's rumored that he's in a relationship with Ria (27) from Hamburg. And what does Bill have to say about his twin brother having a girlfriend? "It's feels strange. He has someone, I don't. But I know that we'll always have the closest relationship - that's a fact and women will have to accept that. We come in a double pack. A girl is, basically, in a relationship with both of us." The brothers are indeed inseparable. The two of them always appear as a duo - which is, at the moment, also the case with DSDS.

What really makes them strong: Bill and Tom can often communicate with each other just by thinking or looking at each other. And they pledge: "We want to die together!" But a life without love? Both of them don't want this. Tom already found his luck - and Bill will hopefully also meet "the one" soon. Eight years of loneliness are definitely enough...

Bill & Tom - Fashion Talk

Fashion-Alarm at DSDS! In the ten year history of DSDS, no other jury-members have been as stylish as Bill and Tom Kaulitz (both 23) from Tokio Hotel. Bill surprised the viewers of this season with 5 (!) outfit changes during the first episode - one more spectacular than the other! Bravo met up with the twins for a little style-talk...

By now, both of you are fashion icons. Is a candidates style therefore important to you?
Bill: For me it's important that they're authentic. A lot of people wear crazy stuff, but more often than not it only looks like they're disguising themselves.
Tom: Yup, if they dress "boring" every day, they should continue doing so. There's no point in dressing up and not being comfortable with what you're wearing, thus screwing up your performance.
Bill: One candidate, for example, came to the casting in a simple white shirt, jeans and sneakers - and he was great! I would never tell him: Go and put on a leather jacket with metal studs or try on the new collection of Givenchy. That's ridiculous.

So candidates can't make up for their weak/bad voice with their styling?
Tom: Both things play a role in our decision making process. If a candidate doesn't sing that great, but has an awesome stage presence, is charismatic and has an awesome style, I would let him advance onto the next round. I would rather let such a person go on to the next round, than someone who might have a better voice but where you can immediately see: You can't put him on stage because he's missing the stage presence and the fire.

How do you find the right casting style for yourself?
Bill: You should be spontaneous: What do I feel comfortable with and in which clothes do I look best? I always get up in the morning and dress how I want to. I never think about what I'm going to do or what I have planned that day. And then, suddenly, I'm sitting behind the jury-table for ten hours, under the warm spotlights - bundled up in a thick sweater (laughs).

What do you like wearing most right now?
Bill: Colors! In the past I wore a lot of black. But I'm not one for following fashion trends and I don't look at what others wear all the time. What's an absolute no-go are the slippers that Mateo always wears! (laughs) I would never wear something like that. Just like shorts.
Tom: Those are also not my thing, even if I have very voluptuous/erotic legs...(laughs) Otherwise, I really like wearing sweaters.
Bill: Did you notice that Tom's style really changed?

That's true - what happened?
Bill: Tom slowly catches up with what I was born with! (laughs) He learned this from me.
Tom: You must be joking! I always liked wearing cloths in the pocket of my pants, and now you're doing the exact same thing...
Bill: By now, Tom just raids my closet and steals things like sunglasses, for example, or jackets.
Tom: It was one jacket! And I had to cut off the sleeves. You should know: Bill's closet is like a massive, smelly Second-Hand-Shop. Finding a nice jacket was really hard!
Bill: (laughs) But your pants have definitely gotten tighter!
Tom: That's just because my ass got bigger...(laughs)

Tom & Bill
With us nobody will get further just out of pity

How do the new DSDS judges Bill and Tom Kaulitz want to stir up the show? They revealed it to BRAVO.

On 5th January [2013] another new season of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" will finally start – and this time there's even a big anniversary to be celebrated: for the 10th time RTL is looking for a solo singer who's got what it takes to be the next big thing. And while the show's ambition stays the same, quite a few things changed on the judging panel: it features two real world stars with Bill and Tom Kaulitz (both 23) from Tokio Hotel. Together with Culcha Candela rapper Mateo (34) and Casting King Dieter Bohlen (58) they're deciding who gets to sing and who gets the boot. BRAVO met up with the TH twins during recordings in Berlin:

Bravo: You're the new judges on "Deutschland sucht den Superstar". You declined "The Voice of Germany" though. Why?
Bill: That's right. We've declined all offers from other casting shows…
Tom: DSDS just got the most viewers and therefore offers a bigger platform for the artists. What's more, the live shows are done the best.

Bravo: What are you personally getting out of "Deutschland Sucht den Superstar"?
Bill: Fun. We just totally felt like [doing] it. Though it also involves more work than we would've thought. (laughs!)

Bravo: Why? What's so exhausting about it?
Tom: The biggest challenge for us were the working hours. We have to get up at 6 AM every day. Usually I only just go to bed at that time.
Bill: It's also tiring that most of the candidates are rather mediocre. I always thought they'd be either bad or good. But what do you tell people that are quite alright?
Tom: We're looking for exceptional talents – or someone with potential who can develop further. The mediocre ones can gladly keep doing it as a hobby. Though nothing more than that.

Bravo: So you've got no problem with being honest then?
Bill: No.
Tom (starts laughing and turns to Bill): As if, as if, as if! You always just say "You're lovely, cute and nice." because you can see their dream go up in smoke before your eyes.
Bill: It really is very difficult. Admittedly they'd deserve to know that nothing will come of it but then they're so sad and already had a tough life anyway. Nevertheless, we won't let anyone go further out of pity.

Bravo: Was it actually a sure thing for you two that you'll only be doing DSDS together?
Tom: In the beginning they only asked me [to do it]. However, I said: Without Bill I’m out! (laughs!)
Bill (laughs with him): Rubbish! We definitely wanted to do it together. It's also way more fun for us like this.

Bravo: So would you like to makes changes to the show?
Tom: We're intending to coach the contestants with lots of talent ourselves behind the scenes. Often people don't get good advice with regards to styling or song choice. We want them to move forward – and not for them to make fools of themselves.

Bravo: Eight out of nine "Superstar" winners were male. Will a woman finally win the show again this year?
Bill: I'd like that but it doesn't necessarily have to happen.
Tom: Internationally there are so many good female artists. Just not in Germany. That's something that's just totally missing here. Maybe we'll find a female winner this year. However, if a guy is better and more popular than he'll obviously win...

You should keep an eye on these contestants!
Erwin Kintop (17) – Tough on the outside, soft on the inside: the guy from Rastatt can score points with his goose bumps-inducing voice.
Wincent Weiss (19) – Skater from Eutin/Schleswig-Holstein, sings very emotionally and plays the guitar
Diyana Hensel (23) – Great charisma, top-notch singing: has the girl from Stuttgart what it takes to be the next Queen of R'n'B?
Fairuz Fussi (16) – Piercing and sidecut: the girl from Munich is considered a rebel.

COMEBACK!

Finally it happened! Tokio Hotel arrived in Moscow to the Muz-TV Awards! BRAVO met the band and learned a lot of interesting details about their life.

BRAVO's editor Liza has interviewed the guys at Olympiysky a few minutes before the Muz-TV Awards.

Bravo: There was really huge crowd of fans in front of the hotel. They came to see you, but suddenly one security came out and said, that you had asked the girls not to scream.

*All of them are laughing*

Georg and Tom: Whaaat?!

Bill: Whoa! We never said that! On the contrary we love so much our fans to greet us with happy cries! Next time, when you hear something like that, you should tell us, we will kick him out immediately!

Bravo: Oh, thanks God! Did you take your dogs to Moscow again?
Bill: No, unfortunately we didn't… They stayed at home. Last year we took two our big dogs (German short-haired and Labrador) on tour with us. But we're not going to stay in Moscow for that long, so we decided not to make dogs nervous. Flight is a huge stress for them. If I could change the rules, I'd let animals travel on board the plane. During the tour when we traveled by bus the dog slept with me in my bed.

Bravo: Bill, the video where you appeared with beard made some buzz in the Net. Was it real beard?
Tom: Nope! It's post production! It was painted on the computer later. *All of them are laughing*
Bill: May be you'll be surprised, but my beard grows too. I didn't expect my 3-days bristle would make such ballyhoo. The camera was not so good and I thought no one would notice it. Actually at home I'm always unshaven. And I shave if I have to go out.

Bravo: You also dressed up today… You have a hood with fur. But it's 25 degrees in Moscow!
Bill: Yes, I didn't know, that it's so hot here!
Tom: Btw, I have to draw your attention that it's not real fur! And we are vegetarians actually.

Bravo: Cool! Bill, have you and your brother already made a twin-tattoo that you have planned?
Bill: Tom can't finally make up his mind to do it! He is afraid of tattoos.
Tom: I've already made painful piercings, but tattoos…it's kind of scary. Why do I have to cover my beautiful body with tattoos? *Bill is laughing* I think, it would be suitable for Bill if he would tattoo all his body including face. It’s a pity if I make it on my beautiful face.

Bravo: But if you finally decide to make it, what would it be?
Bill: A little message understandable for two of us only somewhere no one could see.

Bravo: Bill, Adam Lambert talks about you in each interview. What if he calls you and invites you to the restaurant?
Bill: I don't know him, and he doesn't know my phone number! So, he seems not to be fated to dine with me *looks cunning*

Bravo: I've found something in the Internet! There is such thing as twincest. It's twins who are in love with each other and so on…

*Guys look really puzzled?*

Tom: Ehmmmm… Are there twins who in LOVE WITH EACH OTHER?
Bill: Twin-cest?

Bravo: Yes, some people even draw you in different poses…
Bill: Me and Tom?!
Tom: What a bullshit? Is it legal, actually? *laughs*
Bill: May be this people are insane.
Tom: Sorry, but I don't want to have something in common with this people. *all laughing*

Bravo: Yes, there is a lot of people with insane fantasy. But what was the last case when you met inadequate people?
Bill: The last terrible case was when someone broke into our house in Germany. Because of this we have moved to the USA and now we're living in LA. It's too hard to live in Europe. Some people are just going crazy. They have kind of mania. They can do everything! May be there are those crazy ones among them who make twincest. *laughing* One day we understood, that we have to stay under security's control all the time. Such life became unbearable...

Bravo: What are you doing in LA?
Bill: We're working on our new album. On weekends I swim in the pool the whole day and have fun in amusement park. Tom and me are obsessed with it. Btw, we celebrated our 20th Birthday in amusement park, but it was in Germany.
Tom: I like jet-ski and quadrocycles. I like everything with engine! In LA we also like the fact that we can go to the supermarket and buy yogurt, rent a car.
Georg: Make an intimate haircut in salon… *Everyone laughing*
Bill: Besides it's cool that all supermarkets in the USA are opened round-the-clock!
Tom: But we live a bit distantly even there. We can't be free for 100%. Most of the time we're staying at home.
