FASHION: The Evolution of Bill’s Style – Part II: 2006-2007

2006

By 2006, tees, jeans, and leather jackets had more or less become Bill’s “uniform.” He began adorning himself with large, silver jewelry and leather cuffs, as well as multiple necklaces of different lengths and materials worn together. Bill also began wearing more dramatic eye makeup, as well as his signature black and white french manicured nails. He started to let his hair grow out and traded the hair gel for hair spray, prompting the beginnings of the “lion’s mane.” I think that Bill began to feel more comfortable in his position as a popular figure around this time and that helped him to start to really discover and grow into his own personal style.

Bill's style: 2007

I feel as though 2007 was really Bill’s most iconic year. If you ask anyone who hasn’t exactly followed every step of Bill’s fashion résumé to describe his style, I’ll bet that 9 times out of 10, they will describe 2007 Bill: big hair, big jewelry, big belts and lots of eyeliner.

Bill’s makeup took an even more dramatic step when he began wearing bronzer in addition to eye shadow and eyeliner. He also began to wear more expensive designer labels in 2007, such as Diesel and Ed Hardy/Christian Audigier. Leather motorcyle jackets, skull prints and skull jewelry gave Bill that edgy “rockstar” look, but the added touch of glam is what made the look quintessentially Bill.

What do you think of this phase in Bill’s style evolution? Do you miss the lion’s mane, or do you think that he wore it for long enough and that 2009 was the right time for the lion’s mane to go?

Check back soon for the conclusion (for now!) of The Evolution of Bill’s Style – Part III: 2008-present!
