MTV Greece finally broadcasted the interview they did with Tokio Hotel before their MTV Day World Stage performance in Athens on 9th October 2009!
TRANSLATION
Interviewer: You’re actually the first German band to make it worldwide. What do you think is the secret of your success?
Bill: Ich glaube, das Geheimnis sind die Fans, auf jeden Fall. Also, wir haben eigentlich in allen Ländern den Erfolg den Fans zu verdanken. Sie haben uns entdeckt und wir sind da unglaublich dankbar für. Auf jeden Fall. Wir genießen die Zeit.
I think, the secret are the fans, definitely. Meaning, in all those countries we’ve actually to thank the fans for the success. They’ve discovered us and we’re incredibly thankful for it. Definitely. We’re enjoying the time.

With the album Humanoid your sound has changed a bit. What do you think is the relation and how do you feel about it in comparison to the last two… the previous two albums?
Bill: Also ich glaube, wir haben auf jeden Fall so’n paar Sachen geändert, aber es ist auf jeden Fall der… Der Tokio Hotel-Sound ist immer noch da. Ich glaub’, wir haben das alles so’n bisschen erweitert. Also, es ist ein neuer Sound dazu gekommen und… Aber wir lieben unsere alten Songs auch. Ganz klar. Und erm…
Well I think, we’ve definitely been changing a few things but it’s definitely the… The Tokio Hotel sound is still there. I think, we’ve been extending it all a bit. Meaning, a new sound has been added and… But we also love our old songs. Clearly. And erm..

Bill: … die alten Alben gehören genauso zu uns und erm… ja. Aber das neue… Wir sind schon sehr stolz drauf. Also, das ist genau das, was wir jetzt machen wollen und es fühlt sich sehr gut an.
… the old albums are just as much a part of us and erm… yes. However, the new… We’re really very proud of it. Meaning, it’s exactly what we want to do now and it feels very good.

Interviewer: It’s a big night for Greece, for MTV and for you as well as this is the first live worldwide presentation of your new album Humanoid and it’s also going to be an MTV World Stage show. What can you tell me about that?
Bill: Wir sind auf jeden Fall wahnsinnig aufgeregt. Also erm, wir freuen uns. Wir freuen uns total, dass wir da sein können und wir freuen uns natürlich, erm… Wir sind zum allerersten Mal in Athen und wir freuen uns, dass wir’s Album hier vorstellen können. Die Fans sind gut drauf. Also, wir freuen uns auf den Auftritt.
We’re definitely totally excited. Meaning erm, we’re happy. We’re happy that we can be here and of course we’re happy, erm… We’re in Athens for the very first time and we’re happy that we can introduce our album here. The fans are in good spirits. Meaning, we’re looking forward to the performance.

Interviewer: So guys, MTV loves Tokio Hotel and Tokio Hotel love MTV. We will meet you at the Europe Music Awards in Berlin in a few days, okay? Erm, where you are once again nominated for Best Group award. So, tell us a few things about the relationship you have with the world’s number one music channel.
Bill: Erm also, wir sind extrem, erm erm… Also, wir freuen uns extrem, dass wir nominiert sind. Also, mit so starken Künstlern. Vor allem ja auch mit Bands, die wir selber sehr, sehr gut finden und von daher, ich glaub’, das wird wirklich schwer dieses Jahr. Aber wir haben die besten Fans der Welt und die werden ordentlich voten.
Erm well, we’re extremely, erm erm… Well, we’re extremely happy that we’re nominated again. Well, [in a category] with such strong artists. Especially also bands that we like very, very much ourselves and therefore, I think, it’s going to be really tough this year. However, we’ve got the best fans in the world and they’ll be voting hard.

Interviewer: […] girls who is inspired by you, your style, your music. In what ways do you feel connected with them? With your fans?
Bill: Also ich glaube, wir sind auf jeden Fall total connected. Ich finde, das ist wie so’ne große Tokio Hotel-Familie, die sich ein Mal durch ganz, ganz viele Länder zieht. Wir haben ja auch immer Tokio Hotel TV dabei und alle können gucken was wir den ganzen Tag machen und uns ist die Verbindung auf jeden Fall ganz, ganz wichtig. Auf jeden Fall.
Well I think, we’re definitely totally connected. I think, it’s like a big Tokio Hotel family that’s spreading as one throughout many, many countries. We’ve also always got Tokio Hotel TV with us and everybody can see what we’re doing all day long and the connection is definitely very, very important to us. Definitely.
Inteviewer: I want you to describe the feeling when you are on stage.
Bill: Also, eigentlich, man denkt an gar nichts. Man ist einfach nur… Teil des Ganzen und ich glaub’, man muss es erlebt haben. Man kann es nicht beschreiben. Ist das beste Gefühl was es auf jeden Fall auf der ganzen Welt gibt.
Well actually, one doesn’t think about anything. One is just… part of the whole and I think, one has to experience it. It can’t be described. It’s definitely the best feeling in the whole world.
