"WE DIDN'T HAVE A PLACE TO CALL 'HOME' ANYMORE."

Through the monsoon and around the world: At the peak of their success the "Tokio Hotel"-Twins Bill and Tom (23) left Germany – and moved to Los Angeles. Two years of silence followed. Now they’re back home – as jurors on "Deutschland sucht den Superstar"! BILD was the first one to interview Tom and Bill on the set of the casting show.

BILD: Already discovered some new talents today?

Bill: "Yes, there were quite a few good people there..."
Tom: "But no one that really blew us away. At least not today."

BILD: How do you get along with Dieter Bohlen?

Bill: "We didn't know Dieter personally before DSDS, but we've been looking forward to work on the jubilee season of DSDS with him. We got along really well right away and have a lot of fun on set."

BILD: You're also acquainted with the dark side of show business, which for sure helps you at castings, right?

Bill: "I already saw some candidates where I thought to myself: "Nope, that's just not for you..."
Tom: "Those, that only want to get famous for the sake of being famous, really annoy me. Being famous is just a side-effect, if someone is really good at something. If you can't do anything, you shouldn't even be famous."

BILD: Two years ago, you left Germany. How is your life in Los Angeles?

Bill: "We consistently tried to hide the past two years. We wanted a place where we could withdraw and where we could have some privacy. We feel comfortable in L.A. and live there with our four dogs."

BILD: Why did you – quite literally – flee?

Tom: "We'd been on the road for five years, nonstop and we just didn't have a kind of 'safe haven' anymore. We really felt like we didn't have a place to call home anymore and after some time on the road it just felt like it doesn't really matter where you sleep anymore."

BILD: A terrible feeling...

Tom: "Yes. After some time it got to the point where we felt overwhelmed and thought: Where can we go? And above all we wanted a place where we could be creative again."

BILD: ...and record a new Album?

Tom: "L.A. made it possible for us to record and work on new music in a more relaxed manner, which has definitely brought us further artistically. People are probably never going to hear a lot of the stuff, but they will definitely hear some of it."

BILD: Do you already have a release date for the new Album?

Tom: "We're still working on the new Album, but we won't rush ourselves."

BILD: Where do you feel 'at home' today?

Bill: "Actually, always where our family is. Of course our roots are in Germany, and Germany will always be our home, but Tom and I settle in fast – it doesn't matter where it is."

BILD: Bill, your appearance also changed quite drastically – the skeleton-tattoo on your hand is quite crass...

Bill: "I started pretty early! I got my first piercing at the age of 13, my first tattoo at the age of 15. I always liked tattoos and in the past few years I didn't have much time to get new ones. Now I design them with my tattoo artist in L.A."

BILD: You also built up quite a lot of muscles...

Bill (laughs): "You do what you can..."

Tokio Hotel-Twins in DSDS-Jury!

What an awesome jury!

After RTL has already got show-titan Thomas Gottschalk, the next TV sensation is coming now: the Tokio Hotel-Twins Bill (23) and Tom Kaulitz (23) will be the new judges of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (German version of "Pop Idol")!

BILD learned exclusively from the mega-deal, which both musicians helps with their comeback two years after their last album.

A success for RTL. Pro7 had allegedly tried unsuccessfully to get Bill and Tom as judges for "The Voice" last year.

Already on the 24th September the twins will judge the first singers together with Dieter Bohlen (58). But until the TV broadcast, the fans will have to wait another three months.

The 10th season of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" starts in January 2013. In addition to the Tokio Hotel-Twins also Culcha Candela frontman Itchy will sit in the jury.

Q&A with Tom Kaulitz

What would somebody have to give to you, so that you wear Bill’s clothes once?
Well, I can imagine something with Angelina Jolie. No, nonsense. I would never wear Bill’s clothes, and to be honest, I don’t think anyone would like to see me like that.

If you’d have a girlfriend, would you hide that from the press, or would you admit it openly?
But I always talk about my girlfriends. I have one or two now and then. But it doesn't really last longer than one day.

Do your friends and family have nothing to say about you talking about sex all the time, and about the fact that you’re sleeping with groupies?
Why should they? Other parents would like for their children to talk about it. And this way I don’t have to lie.

How can someone provoke you? What gets on your nerves most?
I’m not that easy to provoke. I think that there’s only one person who can really do that. This person is 10 minutes younger than me, and his name starts with B. I can’t say how he sees this.

How many guitars do you have? Do you name them?
I don’t really know how many there are… I think there are about 20 and I don’t give them names. But Georg calls his base “Mr. Sandberg”. It’s his only friend anyway. (He’s crazy)

You said that you and Bill often have the same dreams. Which was the most embarrassing/beautiful/strange dream you ever had?
I think this is the first question I don’t really have an answer for. And that’s because I always forget about what I dream.

What was the most sordid lie you’ve ever invented?
I never lie! I hope everyone knows that!

Do you like to remember about school, about school trips and so on? If so you, what did you especially liked then?
There was only one school trip I went to. I pretended to be sick for the others. I don’t really like to remember about school. I hated it! School trips were a change to the awful everyday school-life. You could have many girlfriends there, that’s the only positive thing I can remember.

Do you have any habits (do you speak while sleeping for example)?
Maybe I do speak while sleeping. I can’t really tell… You should ask the others about it. Otherwise I like leaving things behind in different places, and things which remain there for good.

Is there still a dream you would like to come true or are you perfectly happy?
I’m really happy…Whenever I express some dreams they probably sound stupid, but I wish to be as successful as now for as long as possible, and to see as many countries as possible together with my boys.

What goes to your mind during concerts when you make such grimaces?
Grimaces? I think that, if you play music and you are in your element, you don’t have your face expressions under control. You don’t think of anything… You just play!

Personality: Georg and Tom are more alike when it comes to hitting on girls. He also enjoys showing his body off when on stage and usually strips his shirt off. Georg gets teased a lot by the twins due to his clumsiness. He also likes sleeping naked. He currently has a girlfriend whom he's been with since 2009.

Personal Quotes

On how he would create a romantic date: I would just try to be who I am and not put on any fancy cloths to impress the girl. I mean obviously I am very happy if a girl dresses up for me but I also don’t want her to pretend to be someone she’s not.

To create a romantic mood, I would take her out to a beautiful restaurant. Well, now that I think about it, I would probably prepare a meal myself - that’s more intimate. It might taste better in a restaurant but my pasta is definitely also worth a try!

He’s always the first one to get up in the mornings and waits till the rest of the band drag themselves out of bed while he’s already made breakfast and gotten ready. When you first get to know him - you realize that he is such a sweet heart!

Type of girl: The one who will love him the way he is. He currently has a girlfriend since 2010. In early 2015, it was announced that Gustav is married.
